Cookies Policy

Version 1.1 · effective September 25, 2026

What changed: Optional analytics and marketing tiers now require an explicit choice and can be changed at any time.

SureRent uses small first-party storage items — cookies and equivalent browser storage — to keep you signed in, protect your account, remember your saved homes, and remember the privacy choices you make. This page names every tier, what it does, and how long it lasts. The short version: Necessary is always on, everything else is your call.

1. What we store & why

Cookies are tiny data items your browser keeps for sites you visit. Ours never contain your name, email, phone number, or property details — they hold opaque identifiers (session and security tokens) plus your own stated preferences (saved homes are tied to your account, not the cookie; the cookie only keeps you signed in to see them). We use no cross-site tracking cookies and no advertising pixels.

2. The three tiers

TierWhat it doesDefault
Necessary Sign-in sessions, CSRF forgery protection, your cookie-tier choices themselves, and security/rate-limiting markers. The service cannot provide secure sign-in or privacy controls without these. Always on
Analytics Helps us learn which search, listing, and dashboard features get used, so development follows real behaviour. Aggregated where possible. Off until you choose
Marketing Campaign measurement and relevance of our own promotions. Never a sale of personal data, never shared with ad networks. Off until you choose

3. How long each item lasts

  • Session & security tokens: session-length, or the configured session lifetime; cleared on sign-out.
  • Your tier choices (sr_cookie_consent): 12 months, first-party only, then we ask again.
  • Optional-tier data: collected only while the tier is on; switching a tier off stops collection immediately (previously collected aggregates are not rewritten).
  • Local preferences (e.g. dismissed banners, nearby-area hints): kept on your device until you clear site data.

4. Managing your choices

Open Cookie settings in the site footer at any time. The dialog shows the same three tiers with plain-language explanations: Necessary is locked on (with the reason stated), Analytics and Marketing are switches you control. Choices save to your account when signed in, otherwise to this browser. You can also clear everything through your browser's site-data controls — you will simply be signed out and asked for tiers again.

5. Third parties & trackers

Today: none for tracking or advertising. Fonts, styles, and scripts are self-hosted, so loading a page contacts no ad network. Operational providers (email delivery, hosting, media storage) process data under contract, never for their own marketing. If this ever changes, this policy — and the consent dialog — change first.

6. Changes & contact

New tiers or durations land here with a new effective date, and signed-in users are asked to re-confirm where the law requires it. Questions: contact page or info@surerent.ng. For the wider picture see the Privacy Policy.
